While many educators think of the union only when they need assistance, the United Educators of Pittsfield (UEP) is so much more than that. Every day, we work to advocate for our members, strengthen our schools, and build a supportive, connected educational community.
Our commitment extends far beyond the classroom. Through community outreach, partnerships, and service, we strive to help make Pittsfield Public Schools a destination district for outstanding educators, students, and families. By building strong relationships throughout our community, we can create schools where everyone feels valued, supported, and empowered to succeed.
At the heart of our mission is a simple belief: educators deserve to be recognized and treated as the professionals we are. UEP works to ensure that every member is respected, supported, and recognized as a valued partner in the educational process. It sounds pretty straight-forward (because it is), but we advocate for fair working conditions because they directly contribute to better learning environments for our students.
One of our most important responsibilities is negotiating a fair contract on behalf of Pittsfield educators. Our current contract remains in effect through August 2027, with negotiations for the next agreement beginning in late fall of 2026.
