While many teachers only think of the union when they need help, the UEP does so much more than that.
First and foremost, the UEP works to ensure that all of our educators are treated as professionals; with respect and as a collaborative and productive partner in the educational process.
The UEP is the contract negotiator for all Pittsfield educators. In 2015, the UEP and School Committee successfully negotiated a new three-year contract with many new and important additions.
Changes in the 2015 Contract:
- Merger of the two pay scales.
- Codification of the three-hour emergency leave policy.
- Changes to the New Teacher Induction program that make it easier for new teachers to focus on their first job, teaching.
- Changes to the personal leave policy for new parents.
- And so much more!
The UEP also provides social and professional development opportunities for the city’s educators. Check the website frequently for updates.
